Hail, Caledonia
Thistle bead pattern

Sir Walter Scott, in his Lay of the Last Minstrel, wrote of "Oh, Caledonia! Stern and wild..." He must have had in mind the thistle, Scotland's National Flower.

Completed pattern measures roughly 2" x 2.2" and makes a wonderful front for an amulet bag. (For the full Scots treatment, add my rampant lion pattern "Scotland, The Brave" on the reverse side.) Or use as an applique for another type of bag or clothing.

Pattern includes a full color beading chart, a Word bead chart with the first two rows combined and alternate rows reversed for easy beading, a list of suggested Delica color numbers (7) and with bead counts required for each.

(No instructions included for basic peyote or brick stitch, but see my online animated tutorials on Brick Stich and on Peyote Stitch.)

Stitch: Peyote or Brick stitch
Beads required: 1302 (6.51 grams)
Finished size: 2" x 2.15"
Price: $2.95
